Do you think that following Jesus in the modern world is often confusing and hard? Come join Central Conversations to talk about important issues related to Christian faith. Prior to each discussion, participants should listen to an interview or talk by a Christian author on the topic of that conversation using the links provided below. What are the stories and views of the good life that drive political frameworks and movements? How do these political frameworks speak to our fears about ourselves and the world? When do they become an alternative gospel that contradicts the gospel of Jesus and that commands an inappropriate loyalty for Christians? Theologian Kaitlyn Schiess explores these questions and outlines four political stories that can potentially become political idols for Christians at all points along the political spectrum and why it is so important for Christians to strive to let Scripture and the gospel of Christ govern our political beliefs and engagement.
