What does connecting and growing in Christ look like when it comes to giving? Growth begins by connecting more deeply with who we are in Christ: blood-bought children of the King of Kings, sinners saved by his mercy and grace, called to new life with him forever. When new life grow in us, we are transformed into those who:
“...are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Paul instructed Timothy to share this truth with the people, which ultimately leads them to spread the love of Christ. Their willingness to share and be “rich in good works” grew their faith and connected them more deeply to Christ. Gospel generosity changed their hearts and enabled them to “take hold of that which is truly life.” What an amazing picture of how God seeks to bless us, to grow and connect us, through our giving. Giving FAQ
What does the Bible say about giving?
Quite a lot! God gives to us. He delights in giving. This is readily apparent throughout all of the Bible, so we too are called to give generously, cheerfully, and sacrificially. In addition to the Old testament traditions and prescriptions to tithe (Gen. 14:20, 28:22; Lev. 27:30-32; Num. 18:21-28; Deut. 12:5-19, 14:22-29, 26:1-19), we are called to be imitators of Christ (1 Cor. 11:1; Eph. 5:1; 1 Thes 1:6).
Are my gifts and tithes really needed?
Yes, we assure you that they are. Your sacrificial giving ensures that everything you see and experience at Central is possible. From lights in the sanctuary to missionaries in the field, and everything in between, your gifts are vital to Christ’s mission at and through Central.
Can I designate my gift to Central?
Yes, of course you can. We know that the Lord calls us to special ministries and projects. Also know that the Church session works very hard to ensure that the needs of all of her ministries are met. An undesignated gift allows the Church to determine the best use of those resources.
Is it safe to give online?
Yes! Central uses Pushpay to handle all online gifts. Pushpay is a highly secure online giving solution that is is a fully PCI-DSS Compliant Level 1 Service Provider. This is the highest certification available, which means that Pushpay complies with the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The PCI DSS is a security standard created by the credit card brands (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) based on their experiences fighting off numerous security threats while securing their customer’s data.
Are there any fees involved with giving online?
No, you will not incur any fees when you make an online contribution. However, as much as 3% of your gift will go to the credit card company instead of Central. If you would like to give electronically on a regular basis and want to ensure all of your gift goes towards supporting the ministries of Central, we encourage you to contact our Business Office about setting up an automatic bank draft.
If I give online, will the contributions still appear on my regular giving statement?
Yes. All contributions, whether given online, by mail, or during a worship service, will appear on your statement.
Is it okay to use my credit card?
Central is pleased to offer giving by credit or debit card as an option, and understand there may be benefits to you for doing so. However, we do strongly discourage the use of a credit card if you are unable to pay the balance in full each month and would incur debt as a result.
